Scenic Byway Community Announcement2008 Common Ground Forum To Be Held July 16 On behalf of the Adirondack North Country Associaton, we think you will be interested in the following invitation. We hope to see you in Long Lake. July 8, 2008 Dear Common Ground Colleague: We are writing to formally invite you to the 2008 Common Ground Forum to be held July 16 at the Sabattis Pavilion in Long Lake. The 9:30 am to 4:00 pm program will be devoted to developing specific strategies to improve the economic and cultural vitality of Adirondack Park communities in balance with environmental stewardship goals. Recall that one of the most important meetings in the history of the Adirondacks occurred last year in Long Lake, when nearly 150 people attended the first Common Ground Forum and enthusiastically discussed the Blueprint for the Blue Line. New lines of communication were opened and critical issues were identified. A lot has transpired since last July, but as our economy continues to falter, a lot of work remains to be done. At this year’s forum, we will work to stimulate new thinking to focus specifically on opportunities for economic development in the Park. We will facilitate group discussion and debate about actions and solutions. We will solicit your positive ideas and suggestions for sustaining progress and momentum on this important Adirondack Park concern. Please let us know you will attend by calling 518-891-6200, or emailing anca@northnet.org. A credit card number or check for ten dollars ($10.00) payable to the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) will be required before the Forum to help offset the cost of the picnic lunch the Town of Long Lake will provide. We trust you will not want to miss this next opportunity to join with the many government, business, and economic development, academic and environmental leaders who care deeply about the Adirondack Park and who are helping through the Common Ground Alliance to forge a resilient and sound future for the communities, the economy, and the environment of the Park. Please rsvp soon. Sincerely, for the Common Ground Alliance, Ray Curran, Adirondack Sustainable Communities, Inc.
