ANCA Expands Community Assistance Staff

Greg Hill, Community Assistant Specialist

The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) has added a second Community Assistant Specialist to its staff, Executive Director Terry Martino announced recently. Joining the staff is Gregory A. Hill, of Lake Clear, NY, who retired from the Adirondack Park Agency in 1996 following a lengthy career there. Hill joins Jim Ellis on ANCA’s staff in the role of helping communities fulfill their economic development and quality of life goals.

“We are delighted to have someone with Greg Hill’s background on ANCA’s staff now,” said Martino. "He brings over thirty years of professional experience to our team in areas closely aligned with ANCA’s mission in support of North Country communities."

Hill’s primary responsibilities will be to provide guidance and outreach to municipalities throughout the North Country. Seeing communities gain the capacity to sustain themselves as vibrant, caring places for people to live, work and play is a primary objective in much of ANCA’s work. Project areas where Hill will be involved will include the Adirondack Park Regional Assessment Project, a joint effort between ANCA and the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages and the Towns of Chester and Arietta; the Saranac Lake Community Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), and various Blueway and community planning initiatives, amongst other outreach projects.

While at the Park Agency, Hill served in several planning positions before retiring as the Assistant Director of Regulatory Programs. His past duties included the coordination of inter-municipal planning for the Lake George area and the Agency’s review of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid. He holds a forestry degree from the SUNY College of Forestry and a Master of Science degree from Cornell University in natural resource conservation and economics. Recently, he studied at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Administration, pursuing an advanced degree in geography.
