Northern Forest Canoe Trail Funds ANCA Project

ANCA Celebration of the Opening of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail And The Presentation of Map 2 Long Lake to Saranac Lake, New York

September 13, 2004 - The Adirondack North Country Association will celebrate the opening of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Presentation of Map 2 Long Lake to Saranac Lake, NY on September 23, 2004 at the Hotel Saranac, Saranac Lake, NY.

Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway: Corridor Management/Marketing Plan

August 24, 2004 - The Adirondack North Country Association has launched its newest regional project – the creation of a comprehensive plan for the official NYS Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway from Rome to Glens Falls that will benefit local communities in Oneida, Herkimer, Hamilton, and Warren Counties. Representatives from sixteen townships and two cities along the 140-mile route will be invited to participate in a series of meetings which will result in a planning document that will be used to stimulate regional and local economic development, promote tourism, and market the region. July 12, 2004 - Naj Wikoff, co-founder of the Adirondack Film Society-Lake Placid Film Festival and president of the Society for the Arts in Healthcare, recently returned from spending two weeks in the Republic of Buryatia, Siberia, Russia as part of an ongoing series of exchanges launched by the Totem Peoples Project to foster understanding and collaboration between the people of the Adirondacks and Siberia. Preparation of Regional Plan for Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway Begins

Beginning in the summer of 2004, the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) will be meeting with Local Action Committees in towns and villages along the Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway to create a Corridor Management/Marketing Plan. ANCA has contracted with the New York State Department of Transportation to work with local governments, business owners, civic groups, agencies and other interested stakeholders in the preparation of a regional plan. The plan will address the future of the travel route from Rome to Glens Falls, which was officially designated as part of the New York State Byway System by the Legislature in 1992. Read more...

I am writing on behalf of the Adirondack North Country Association Board of Directors to provide commentary about the Draft Comprehensive Snowmobile Plan for the Adirondack Park. Tupper, Altamont team up with ANCA

TUPPER LAKE – The town of Altamont, village of Tupper Lake and the Adirondack North Country Association have agreed to form a partnership to work jointly on several projects, all connected to the overall revitalization plan of the Tupper Lake area. Read more...




Business Planning Assistance Offered By ANCA To Wood Products Companies

The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) is offering wood products business planning services to companies based in northern New York. The project is funded by a $125,000 grant from the New York State Department of Labor and is part of Governor George Pataki’s “Accelerate New York: Growing New York’s Small and Medium-Sized Businesses.” ANCA is administering the project in partnership with Holmes & Associates of Saranac Lake, CITEC based in Potsdam, and regional Workforce Investment Boards in Herkimer/Oneida, St. Lawrence, Saratoga/Warren/Washington, Jefferson/Lewis, and Clinton/Essex/Franklin/Hamilton.
