A non-profit in the Adirondacks was awarded more than $4 million to create a clean energy hub for the North Country.
The Adirondack North Country Association, based in Saranac Lake, received the grant from NYSERDA, the state’s energy research and development authority.
The goal is to bring green jobs and clean energy programs to the North Country. ANCA says it will also work with residents and businesses to upgrade heating and lighting systems.
“This initiative is critical for helping North Country residents and small businesses save money on energy bills and access clean energy opportunities and jobs,” said ANCA Executive Director Elizabeth Cooper, in a press release.
ANCA plans to partner with the Cornell Cooperative Extension in St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties and SUNY Canton to dole out the money.
“[Cornell Cooperative] Extension is pleased to be a part of this important effort to provide energy outreach and resources to the residents of the North County,” said Patrick Ames, Executive Director at CCE of St. Lawrence County.
ANCA is one of twelve organizations across New York State selected to establish regional clean energy hubs.
