Worker cooperatives are a powerful and rapidly growing strategy for creating jobs with dignity, advancing racial, gender, and economic justice, building strong local economies, and tackling structural inequality. This webinar will explore how public policy can create the conditions for worker cooperatives to truly thrive and expand. Participants will hear about how municipal action in New York City and Rochester has led to an expansion of worker-ownership in those cities and what other municipalities can learn from that success, how proposed legislation in Albany could support worker cooperatives statewide, and how recent victories at the federal level create access to new resources for prospective worker-owners and business owners looking to sell to their employees.
***ANCA is not currently a member of the NYS Community Equity Agenda Coalition but is looking to learn from how their work in public policy could benefit the businesses in our rural region.
