In April, eight food service directors representing 12 Jefferson and St. Lawrence County school districts toured Agbotic, a Sackets Harbor farm that sells fresh produce to schools as part of the Drive for 25 Farm to School Grant program.
Drive for 25 Farm to School Coordinator and Procurement Specialist Renee Smith facilitated the event, where Agbotic owner Kevin Richardson showed food service directors a 15,000 square foot automated greenhouse which can produce six tons of leafy greens per month.
Sausage and hot dogs from Lucki 7 Livestock Company, a Farm to School producer in Rodman, NY, were also sampled at the event.
