Hotel Saranac to become more energy efficient
SARANAC LAKE — The historic Hotel Saranac has become a model for the future.
With the completion of a four-year energy saving project, the iconic downtown landmark is now home to cutting-edge clean energy technologies and energy efficiency upgrades.
The installation of an electric vehicle charging station is the final segment of a larger project which also includes new high efficiency windows, low flow faucets and air sealing throughout the nearly century-old building, according to a news release.
The larger project was supported with funding through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Cleaner Greener Communities program and coordinated by the Adirondack North Country Association and Essex County.
“ANCA and New York state were interested in supporting the overall impact that this project would have on the revitalization of downtown Saranac Lake by helping the owners achieve their clean energy goals and reduce their energy costs,” ANCA Sustainability Project Coordinator Jennifer Perry said.
"By taking on energy-related upgrades and installations, the hotel is reinforcing its role as an important community leader and economic driver for downtown and the surrounding area.”
