Cuomo seeks changes to school lunch programs

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is proposing a sizable overhaul of lunches served in
schools across the state.

Gov. Cuomo’s proposal involves a handful of different pieces, including a
ban on shaming students who do not have the money to buy a school lunch.
His proposal would ban any form of public humiliation of a student who
cannot afford a school lunch, as well as ban “alternative” lunch options
for students who cannot afford a normal lunch served at school.
