Nov 07, 2017 — The Strand originally opened in 1923, showing silent movies.
At different times, the theater building included a dance hall and
barbershop. Older residents remember it as a place to get local news and
spend an inexpensive weekend night.
A lot had changed by the time Bob Card saw the theatre for the first time.
Much of the old theatre design had been covered up or removed, and the
theatre was only opened each summer, between Memorial and Columbus Day.
Business wasn’t booming.
